Watching

In no specific order:

NANA: Great adaptation from the manga, only drawback is that the soundtrack is for the most part repetitive and uninspired. Good news that from episode 22 onwards there will be a new OP.

Ouran High School Host Club: Awesome, awesome series. Only two episodes to go though ;_;

Simoun: One of the best shows of the year, it’s a pity that a lot of people ignored it and tagged it as ‘just another yuri show’. From the richness of the setting, the likable characters, great OP song and animation. This is another one has only two episodes more, so again ;_;

XXXHolic: Love the manga, love the anime. The soundtrack, Yuuko, the Japanese folklore, Yuuko, everything about this show is great. Five episodes to go ;_;

Honey & Clover II: One episode to go, and I’m still not sure over what to think about this series. There are times when I just connect with the characters and times when I feel like strangling them because they take so long to solve things. Beautiful animation and soundtrack to boot (except for that so-called singer YUKI. That woman’s voice gives me nightmares, nightmares I say!).

Welcome to NHK!: For all those party poopers who thought that Gonzo couldn’t handle NHK’s awesomeness, the joke’s on you! So the anime is not a carbon copy from the manga, so what? It is doing a great job at it and has the made the characters far more deep and likable than in the manga. I hope it keeps things that way.

Ergo Proxy: I love pseud-deep, pretentious anime. From Serial Experiments Lain to Texnholyze, there’s just something that appeals to me about this completely impenetrable mind f*cks. I just wish someone could finish releasing this one already.

Kemonozume: Is directed by Masaki Yuasa. That was all I needed to know, to know that I would love this series to pieces. And I’m loving every second of it.

FLAG: The first three episodes have been excellent at developing the setting and characters, I just wish that someone would start advancing the actual plot for a change. Wonderful stuff here for people who enjoy a reality-based anime (the mecha are decorative fluff, don’t mind them).

Mushishi: I’m waiting for episode 26, though there’s no way in hell this series could receive an actual, definitive ending anyways, so I’m just glad that there is one more episode left.

Saiunkoku Monogatari: I regret tagging this series as ‘another Fushigi Yuugi clone’, it really couldn’t be any more different from it. Even with the reverse harem, the bishounens, the Chinese setting and the bird from the OP, this series is quite the opposite of Fushigi Yuugi and a joy to watch.

Aria The Natural: Who needs yoga when you have Aria to relax? I’m still waiting for the day that a Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou TV series is announced, but until then, Aria fits the bill.

Recently finished watching:

Black Lagoon: Holy crap, best action series since FMP:TSR. So glad this one is getting a second series.

Windy Tales: Superflat animation style, Production IG (with Mamoru Oshii’s eye on it no less) and a great soundtrack equals this series. High school slice of life with a touch of the unexpected for good measure. Pity that this series has so little love as it is.

On hold:

Chevalier D’Eon: I would be watching this, if there were someone out there actually translating it! Everything about this anime screams ‘I’m so getting licensed baby!’ and perhaps that’s why no group is bothering with it. Shame, the first episode owns, and I thought that anime fans loved crossdressing; I guess they don’t love crossdressers in French/Russian setting with a serving of zombies and secret societies.

Bokura Ga Ita: I knew BGI was a softer version of Hot Gimmick, and I loath HG, so why did I start watching this in the first place? Curiosity, I guess. I cannot stand doormat characters, be it male or female, and this series pisses me off to no end. I’ll start watching it again if I hear that Nanami ditched that bastard Yano for good…meaning I will probably not watch it again.

Kamisama Kazoku: I liked this series, I really really did, but same story as Chevalier, no one seems to want to translate it. Oh well.
